Reason for Buy / Sell / Short / Cover:

 

1. US government and EPA are accusing FCAU of using software to allow illegal emissions in diesel-powered vehicles.
2. This is the kind of case similar to VolksWagen.

 

Lesson Learnt:

 

1. My stop loss was previously set at a very low level just to protect my cost and I did not trace up from time to time.
2. My sell was not fast enough because I was looking for reason behind. The news first came as "option alert" which does not really mean anything to me.
3. Trading actually stopped when the stock lost > 15%. After trading is back, the stock started to regain some ground. I guess those are the shorts trying to claim their profits.
4. The recover actually gain more ground after I decide to close this trade.
5. Maybe it is time to start looking for opportunity to short this stock.

U.S. environmental regulators accused Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV of using software that allowed illegal emissions in diesel-powered vehicles, the latest broadside in an unprecedented government crackdown on auto makers for alleged pollution transgressions. The Environmental Protection Agency, days before the end of the Obama administration, delivered a violation notice to Fiat Chrysler accusing the auto maker of using illegal software that allowed 104,000 recent diesel-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee sport utilities and Ram pickup trucks to spew toxic emissions beyond legal limits. The affected vehicles have model years ranging between 2014 and 2016. Shares of the auto maker were down 13% in recent trading. The EPA's move came a day after six current and former Volkswagen AG executives were criminally charged in the German auto giant's long-running emissions cheating on nearly 600,000 diesel-powered vehicles in the U.S. Volkswagen separately pleaded guilty to criminal wrongdoing and agreed to pay $4.3 billion in penalties stemming from the long- running deception, which involved installing so-called defeat-device software on cars that allowed them to pollute less during government emissions tests than on the road. That was on top of up to $17.5 billion Volkswagen agreed to pay in previous civil settlements. Officials stopped short of calling Fiat Chrysler's software defeat devices, saying they were continuing to investigate. But they nevertheless accused Fiat Chrysler of illegal activity and said it could cost the company $4.63 billion, based on a $44,539 penalty for each affected vehicle. "This is a clear and serious violation of the Clean Air Act," said EPA Assistant Administrator Cynthia Giles, adding Fiat Chrysler failed to disclose eight so-called auxiliary emission control devices on the vehicles when getting them certified. "AECDs that are not disclosed are illegal." Fiat Chrysler "is disappointed that the EPA has chosen to issue a notice of violation," the auto maker said in a statement. The company "intends to work with the incoming administration to present its case and resolve this matter fairly and equitable and to assure the EPA and FCA US customers that the company's diesel-powered vehicles meet all applicable regulatory requirements." 1. There are so many V-shape around with huge profit to gain from.
2. If there are many of them it kind of indicate the bullishness of the entire stock market.

 

What should I do?

 

1. Look out for trend reversal signals and buy in stages after each signal is validated.
2. Getting at the most bottom is close to impossible, but getting in at stage 2 onwards is achievable.

1. If you look carefully, there are so many stocks that have the same pattern as stock "A". This time is "TROX".
2. It is very obvious that "TROX" advanced earlier than "A" and hence become a mirror for "A".

 

What should I do?

 

1. If "A" comes back to $48.00, it could be a good entry.

2. Stock "A" seems to have progress further and act as a mirror for stock "STM".
3. Stock "A" seems to start its second kick to upside.
4. Stock "STM" seems to retrace its first uptrend.

 

What should I do?

 

1. Might be a good entry at around $10 for stock "STM".

1. A very big V-shape chart with a triangle that looks like going to go North.
2. It looks familiar to what I (think) I have read from Alexander Elder's book.

 

Lesson Learnt:

 

1. From the intraday chart, it did a fake bull protruding the upper trend line which makes it look very bullish.
2. I should have waited at least until it came down to the intraday trend line.
3. See how well it observe the daily chart trend line even at intraday chart?!
4. There is quite a lot to learn from just this one trade.

1. Top up at the wrong time, even though the chart seems to get support at the moving average line previously. The material sector was going down past few days.
2. It seems to be quite hard for me to protect profit also.

1. I thought material sector is still doing ok.
2. I thought the moving average line will be a good support for the stock price.
3. After market does not look good at all. MTL and MT are in same sector. Since I just got kicked out from MTL, I should not expect positive sign from MT.

Lesson Learnt:

1. Friday's dropped was quite drastic for material sector.

After disappearing myself for so many years….  I am back !!!

I have tried to look for other free online tools for me to post stock experiences, but looks like this is still the best place to be. I have tried to do posting from OneNote directly to Google Blogger, but I have problem to deal with photos and snapshots because it required me to state down where will those photos be kept which I have no idea of. If anyone can help, please kindly let me know.
